The new year is often the start of new promises, new resolutions to make us healthier, happier, or other! What’s your 2023 new year’s resolution for the planet? How about supporting Veganuary? Veganuary is an annual promotion each January encouraging people to try out being vegan for a month. Although popular in January you can sign up at any time of the year.
Swapping some of our meals for plant-based food is good for our health and good for the planet; reducing meat and dairy consumption is a very effective way to reduce your carbon footprint. It need not cost you more either (and may well cost less). Any reduction is good for reducing carbon footprint so it does not have to be all or nothing – meat-free Mondays, flexitarian, vegetarian, etc are all helpful options.
GPG has been delighted to see Griffin books support Veganuary with a vegan cookery window display along with other Penarth businesses featuring their vegan offerings. And if you’re stuck for ideas, lots of inspiration in Penarth Library too!
You can sign up online and find lots of support at veganuary.com/try-vegan.
You will be emailed vegan recipes and information about nutrition, health, environmental impact, animal welfare and more.
Meat and dairy consumption is a large part of the carbon footprint of most people in the UK – you can find out more at https://ourworldindata.org/food-choice-vs-eating-local
